WRITING & THRIVING *Workshops*

Journaling Through January

Make journaling a regular practice in 2020!

Journaling can be profoundly transformative, healing and grounding. Gift yourself this opportunity to deepen as you enter the new year with commitment, focus and clarity.

These sessions will support you to explore your own mind as you write, taking time to move deeply into what it is you want or need to say. Journaling can be a very powerful practice, connecting you with your own voice and aligning you with your own truth.

In these sessions, I will support your writing practice with suggestions, guidance, exercises and advice. Drawing on my own experience I will guide you into this practice in practical and accessible ways that can be profoundly cathartic, healing, and uplifting. Each workshop will also include a range of practices drawn from yoga – such as guided meditation, breath work (pranayama) and hand-gestures (mudra) – to further support your writing process.

We will meet online via Zoom calls to workshop together over
four Wednesday evenings (8-29 January) 8-9pm. You will also have access to an exclusive Facebook group and regular support for your daily journaling practice.

All four sessions plus Facebook group: £30.

Book by 22 December to receive all this for just £25!

ABOUT ME: SALLY-SHAKTI WILLOW

Sally-Shakti Willow

Writing my PhD in Utopian Poetics showed me what it means to be a writer. I wrote four books of poetry and a 50,000 word thesis, and I started journaling as a way to ground and heal myself.

While I was studying, I also wrote and maintained the Contemporary Small Press website, writing regular reviews of new fiction and poetry published by small presses. I was on the judging panel for the 2018 Republic of Consciousness Prize for literary fiction from the small presses. So I was reading a lot of great writing too. And I co-developed and taught a series of workshops called WELLBEING WHILE WRITING for doctoral researchers at the University of Westminster.

WELLBEING WHILE WRITING used practical techniques from Creative Writing pedagogy to support PhD students of all disciplines with the work of WRITING their thesis. I also used my knowledge and experience of yoga and meditation to provide MOVING & BREATHING FOR WELLBEING workshops to graduate students at the University.

I’ve been teaching English since 2004 and I’ve been teaching Creative Writing at the University of Westminster since 2017.

Testimonials

‘I have just completed a short course of four workshops ‘Journaling for Deeper Connection’ with Sally-Shakti and would recommend it to anyone wanting to explore journaling as a practice.

Sally-Shakti has a very friendly, encouraging and supportive approach. She helped me to explore the empowering and healing benefits that journaling can offer and how it can help to bring unconscious thoughts and feelings out onto the page. She also showed us how to use mudras and mantra to help facilitate the process.

I’m looking forward to future workshops in the new year.’
