Three Bristol-based small poetry presses – Hesterglock Press, Sad Press & Moot Press – are responsible for the city’s new monthly experimental poetry event: Anathema. Bringing together published & unpublished poets with a wide range of experimental &/ performance styles, Anathema is a vibrant and welcoming hub for experimental word-artists from around the UK.
Here’s the lineup from Anathema #2 Friday 31st March, The Arnolfini, Bristol:
Iain Morrison – poetry reading & experimental film works
[Sub]Atomic – performing The Unfinished Dream: poetry + projected visuals (me on the words, Joe on the visuals)
Anne Laure Coxham – performance of poetry in French and English
nick-e melville – full reading of the new book from Sad Press, ABBODIES
Redell Olsen – poetry + film works, including the brand new work SMOCK (published same day by Institute of Electric Crinolines, Cambridge)
Each of the presses and poets had their books available at the event too – Moot Press make gorgeous hand-made editions of experimental poetry & images, among other things.
Book haul from the night:
SMOCK: Redell Olsen, Institute of Electric Crinolines, Cambridge
ALERT STATE IS HEIGHTENED: nick-e melville, Sad Press
The Blood House: Sarer Scotthorne, Hesterglock Press
[There was also free wine]
